Description
A true neo-vintage icon, this pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master, reference 16700, represents the final evolution of the original GMT-Master before the introduction of the GMT-Master II as Rolex's sole dual-time offering. The case was produced in 1997, as indicated by its U-serial number, this example features the desirable slimmer case profile that has made the reference a favorite among collectors. The watch is fitted with its original Rolex Oyster bracelet (reference 78790) with correct 501B end links, retaining 11 links and a U5 clasp code dating to May 1998. The original tritium dial, distinguished by its rare "Swiss - T< 25" designation, remains in excellent condition, complemented by its original matching tritium handset. The original black anodized aluminum bezel insert with serif-font numerals is also in very good condition, displaying the character and charm expected of a well-preserved example. Powering the watch is the Rolex Caliber 3175 automatic movement, offering a quickset date, hacking seconds, and approximately 48 hours of power reserve. The movement winds smoothly and is running well. Included with the watch are the original Rolex outer box, Rolex presentation box, green retail hang tag, red chronometer hang tag, Rolex booklet, Rolex 1998-99 calendar card, leather document wallet, Rolex original warranty papers dated August 1998, and a Rolex Service document dated August 11, 2003.
