Description
A quintessential vintage Datejust, this Rolex Ref. 16013 pairs the classic proportions of a 36mm Oyster case with the warmth of 18K yellow gold. Produced in 1987, this example features a white dial with applied yellow gold Roman numeral markers, presented beneath an acrylic crystal, with the signature date display at 3 o’clock magnified by Rolex’s Cyclops lens. The stainless steel case is complemented by an 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and matching screw-down crown, while the iconic five-link two-tone Jubilee bracelet completes the traditional Datejust configuration. This example bears an R2 serial number, dating its production to 1987. It retains its original period-correct bracelet, featuring a 62523H 18 bracelet, 455 end links, and a clamshell-style clasp stamped with an L5 code, dating the bracelet to May 1987. The bracelet will comfortably accommodate up to an 18cm wrist. Powering the watch is the automatic Rolex Caliber 3035, notable for introducing Rolex’s quickset date function, allowing the date to be adjusted independently through the crown without cycling the hands through a full 24-hour period. The movement provides an approximately 42-hour power reserve.
