About the Movement

1300.3 NOL movement

Nouvelle Octa Lune This mechanical movement with automatic winding (calibre 1300.3) is manufactured in 18K rose Gold. It is winded mono directionally by the F.P.Journe 22K Gold rotor for an unequaled efficiency. The second dial features a very large date in aperture at 11h, the retrograde power reserve indicator on a scale of 120 efficient hours (5 days) at 9h and the phases of the moon at 8h.

About the Family

The Octa family represents François-Paul Journe's approach to the automatic watch — a series of self-winding calibres built on a single base movement that can accommodate multiple complications. Launched in 2001, the Octa was Journe's response to collectors who wanted the quality of his hand-wound Souveraine movements with the convenience of automatic winding. The 120-hour power reserve was extraordinary for an automatic movement and remains a defining characteristic of the family. Each Octa variant — calendar, chronograph, lune, reserve de marche — adds complications to the same architectural foundation, demonstrating Journe's belief that a well-designed base movement should be capable of supporting significant complexity.

About this reference

The Octa Lune 42 was introduced in 2014, being a larger version of the original Octa Lune. The 2 dials of the Octa Lune are in 18K Gold. The first dial, off centre, with embossed hour numbers surfaced with a diamond tool has been enlarged for a better reading of the time. The second dial features a very large date in aperture at 11h, the retrograde power reserve indicator on a scale of 120 efficient hours (5 days) at 9h and the phases of the moon at 8h.
