The Planet Ocean was introduced in 2005 as the Seamaster range's high-performance diver — larger, more robust, and rated to 600 metres, significantly beyond the Diver 300M's depth rating. The collection draws its design language from Omega's deep-sea heritage, including the brand's role in supplying watches for COMEX diving operations. Larger case sizes, broader bezels, and more aggressive proportions distinguish the Planet Ocean from its siblings, positioning it as Omega's most serious tool-watch offering within the Seamaster family. Co-Axial movements and Master Chronometer certification ensure the mechanical specification matches the physical capability.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is a modern dive watch inspired by watches from Omega's rich past, most notably the Seamaster 300. This version is part of the first generation, which are powered by the caliber 2500 movement. Reference 2909.50.82 has a case of 42mm, an orange bezel inlay, orange numerals on its dial and a rubber strap with orange stitching.
