About the Family
The Radiomir is Panerai's oldest design, predating the Luminor and drawing directly from the instruments the brand produced for Italian Navy frogmen in the late 1930s. The name refers to the radium-based luminous compound originally used on the dials — a material so effective underwater that it defined the watch's military purpose. Without the Luminor's crown guard, the Radiomir presents a cleaner, more austere case profile with wire lugs that are soldered to the case — a construction method faithful to the historical originals. The Radiomir family represents Panerai at its most elemental: large case, luminous dial, minimal complications, maximum legibility.
About this reference
Fitted with a smooth ceramic case, the Panerai Radiomir 292 pairs classic looks with modern materials. The first versions used the so-called 'Maiale' dial, while later models did not feature the torpedo-riding divers on the dial.
