About the Movement
Calibre 3235 is a new generation movement, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex for a superlative level of performance. Certified as a Swiss chronometer by COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), it is tested a second time by Rolex after being cased to ensure that in everyday use it satisfies Rolex’s criteria for precision, which are twice as exacting as those for an officially certified chronometer. This control of the final precision of the assembled watch is carried out using a methodology and high-technology equipment specially developed by Rolex. Caliber 3235 features the new Chronergy escapement and Parachrom hairspring.
About the Family
The Datejust is the foundation upon which Rolex built its reputation as the world's preeminent watchmaker. Introduced in 1945 as the first self-winding wristwatch to display the date in a window on the dial, it was a genuine technical achievement at launch and has remained in continuous production for nearly eighty years. The Cyclops lens, added in 1953 to magnify the date display, became one of the most recognisable design elements in watchmaking. The 41mm variant represents the modern expression of the Datejust — the same Oyster case, same fluted bezel option, same Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, scaled to contemporary proportions. It is the watch that defined what a daily-wear luxury timepiece should be.
About this reference
The Rolex Datejust 41 is an oversized variation of Rolex' iconic Datejust model, replacing the relatively short-lived Datejust II. It was introduced in 2016 for the Rolesor (two-tone) models, and 2017 for the stainless steel variations. As indicated in the name, the case measures 41mm across. It houses Rolex' caliber 3235 movement, which features a 70-hour power reserve and a Chronergy escapement. As customary with the Datejust family, the Datejust 41 is available in a range of configurations. Reference 126303 has a stainless steel case with a smooth yellow gold bezel. It is fitted with either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet.
