About the Movement
Minutes, hand-type month, hand-type day of the week, perpetual calendar, 48-month counter with leap year indication, moon phase, column-wheel chronograph with 12-hour and 30-minute counters, small seconds at 6 o'clock, hand-type date, hours This exceptional movement representing a compendium of technical Haute Horlogerie beats to the rhythm of Calibre 1136 QP and its 228 parts: a mechanical self-winding movement – just as one would expect from a sports watch – oscillating at the rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour and endowed with an approximately 40- hour power reserve. In addition to the hours, minutes and small seconds at 6 o’clock, Calibre 1136 QP powers the chronograph functions – sweep seconds-hand, 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock – as well as those of the perpetual calendar – day of the week, date, 48-month counter with leap years as well as a moon-phase display.
About the Family
The Overseas is Vacheron Constantin's luxury sports watch, first introduced in 1996 as the successor to the 222 — a 1977 design by Jörg Hysek that was Vacheron's original answer to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus. The modern Overseas is defined by its interchangeable strap system (steel bracelet, rubber, and leather, all quick-change without tools), the Maltese cross-inspired bezel, and transparent casebacks that display movements finished to the same standard as the brand's dress complications. The Overseas occupies a more refined position than its competitors — less aggressive than the Royal Oak, less understated than the Nautilus — reflecting Vacheron Constantin's character as the most quietly confident of the Holy Trinity.
