Description
The Grand Seiko Automatic GMT Tōgè, reference SBGM241, is a distinctive special-edition timepiece created in collaboration with Watches of Switzerland Group. Named “Tōgè,” the Japanese word for “mountain pass,” the watch draws inspiration from the winding mountain roads and dramatic landscapes surrounding Grand Seiko’s home in Nagano Prefecture. At the heart of the design is a richly textured British Racing Green dial inspired by the ridges of Mount Iwate, one of the defining visual signatures of Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches. The intricate pattern gives the dial remarkable depth, while the contrasting gold-tone 24-hour GMT hand provides an elegant accent and allows the wearer to track a second time zone at a glance. The 39.5mm stainless steel case is characteristic of Grand Seiko’s refined Elegance collection, featuring curved lugs finished with the brand’s signature Zaratsu polishing. Measuring approximately 13.7mm thick, the case is topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal that complements the watch’s vintage-inspired proportions. Completing the presentation is an original brown crocodile leather strap accented by subtle green stitching, tying together the watch’s green and gold color palette. Powering the SBGM241 is Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9S66, an automatic GMT movement with manual-winding capability. The 35-jewel movement delivers approximately 72 hours of power reserve and is rated to an accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day. Its practical GMT functionality and extended power reserve make the Tōgè as useful for travel as it is distinctive on the wrist. The SBGM241 represents a particularly appealing combination of Grand Seiko’s meticulous finishing, Japanese-inspired design, and functional GMT capability. With its Mount Iwate-inspired green dial, gold-tone GMT hand, Zaratsu-polished case, and special-edition provenance, the Tōgè stands apart from the standard Grand Seiko collection. This example shows minimal signs of wear and comes complete with it’s original inner and outer boxes, dust cloth, retail hangtag, mechanical operating manual, Grand Seiko inspection certificate and Grand Seiko warranty card dated August 2021.
