Description
The Patek Philippe reference 3940 perpetual calendar is one of the most elegant complicated timepieces one can find from any manufacturer. The Patek Philippe reference 3940 is one of the ultimate in discreet complications. The reference 3940 was introduced in 1985 and remained in production until circa 2007. Many collectors consider the reference 3940 and reference 3970 to be the most important complicated timepieces to be introduced in the 1980s. This watch features the thin self-winding calibre 240Q with microrotor. The case is 36mm and is made of platinum. The case appears to be unpolished with very strong hallmarks. The watch has a solid case back (which are exclusive for the platinum examples as they never featured exhibition case backs). The watch features the highly desired 2nd series dial with English calendar. It comes with a Patek Philippe black leather strap and platinum buckle. It does not come with box and papers. It does come with an Extract from the Archives. The watch was produced and sold in 1992. We do not know the service history, but it is running well and keeping good time.
