About the Family
The Dark Side of the Moon, introduced in 2013, reimagined the Moonwatch in a material the original never used: ceramic. The entire case — bezel, case middle, and caseback — is machined from a single block of black zirconium oxide ceramic, a process that is both technically demanding and aesthetically transformative. The collection takes the Speedmaster's most recognisable layout — three subdials, tachymeter bezel, asymmetric case — and reinterprets it through materials and finishes that the 1960s space programme could not have imagined. Each variant explores a different aspect of the moon and space, from meteorite dials to Sedna gold accents, always anchored by the Moonwatch's fundamental architecture.
About this reference
Introduced at BaselWorld 2015, the Dark Side of the Moon 'Sedna Black' seems like the love child of the stunning Apollo 11 45th Anniversary and the equally beautiful 2013 Dark Side of the Moon. It features a black ceramic case and a grey ceramic dial, paired with a 'Sedna' gold bezel, hands and markers. It is fitted with a black alligator strap.
