About the Family
The Luminor is defined by its patented crown-protecting bridge — a lever device that locks the crown against the case to ensure water resistance. This mechanism, visually distinctive and mechanically practical, became Panerai's most recognisable design element after the brand transitioned from supplying the Italian Navy to selling watches commercially in 1993. The Luminor's cushion-shaped case, clean dial with luminous Arabic numerals, and prominent crown guard create a silhouette that is immediately identifiable at any distance. The family spans from simple three-hand models to chronographs and GMT complications, but the crown-protecting bridge remains the constant — the feature that makes a Luminor a Luminor.
About this reference
While the most afforable of all Panerai models, the Base Logo remains a firm favorite among so-called 'Paneristi'. It's 44mm stainless steel case is of course fitted with the trademark crown protector, while the dial features Panerai's old 'Up/Down' OP logo.
