About the Movement
Based off the Unitas 6497, OP XI uses Panerai's distinct bridge lay-out.
About the Family
The Luminor is defined by its patented crown-protecting bridge — a lever device that locks the crown against the case to ensure water resistance. This mechanism, visually distinctive and mechanically practical, became Panerai's most recognisable design element after the brand transitioned from supplying the Italian Navy to selling watches commercially in 1993. The Luminor's cushion-shaped case, clean dial with luminous Arabic numerals, and prominent crown guard create a silhouette that is immediately identifiable at any distance. The family spans from simple three-hand models to chronographs and GMT complications, but the crown-protecting bridge remains the constant — the feature that makes a Luminor a Luminor.
About this reference
The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM 111 has a stainless steel Luminor-style case of 44mm, which houses the hand-wound caliber {CALIBER]. Earlier models feature a painted dial; this was changed to the sandwich style later on.
