Description
This is an incredibly special and possibly unique Patek Philippe referece 3619/3 in 18k white gold. The watch is fresh to market from the family of the original owner. The original owner purchased the watch from Patek Philippe in the 1970s and was a successful New York based attorney. It is massive case measuring 40mm in diameter by 35mm in length. The bracelet is an intricately woven white gold design that is extremely comfortable on the wrist. The watch will fit a wrist approximately 7.5 inches. These cases were produced by Ateliers Réunis. This particular example appears to be a specially requested example with the unseen diamond bezel. It features 50 brilliant diamonds throughout the bezel and 12 diamond hour markers on the dial. The dial features an indentation between 11 and 12 o'clock. The watch is powered by the "Heures Sautantes" (Jumping Hours) manual-wind calibre 27 HS 400. This imporant calibre also used in the iconic Patek Philippe Travel Time reference 2597. In 1959 this movement was introduced by Patek Philippe through the Swiss Patent 340,191 and was based on a 1953 prototype wristwatch from Louis Cottier. These case profile features two adjustments for setting the travel time forward or backward. The watch was found with the travel time set to the local time concealing the third hand. When the son of the original owner was informed of this important complication they were astonished. These timepieces are incredibly rare. It is estimated that 32 examples of the reference 3619 were made with only 13 examples sold publicly. Many were made with leather straps, and others with integrated bracelets. Dials often feature "ribbon" diamond hour markers for black dials and satiné blue dials will feature the more traditional single diamond hour markers. One example in white gold with white lacquered dial with Breguet numerals on leather strap sold in May of 2026 for approximately $447,000. We do not know the service history, but the watch is running well. It does not come with a box or papers. The watch dates to the mid 1970s. An Extract from the Archives has been ordered.
