Description
The Patek Philippe reference 3940 perpetual calendar is one of the most elegant complicated timepieces one can find from any manufacturer and arguably the most elegant complicated Patek Philippe ever made. This particular example is a late example with a case in platinum featuring the 4th series dial. This watch features the thin self-winding calibre 240Q with microrotor. This example features a 'PNPR' Patek Philippe secret code on the Certificate of Origin indicating it was made in August 2006 and was purchased in November 2006 at Boodle's in London. The platinum case measures 36mm and is crisp and absolutely appears unpolished. The platinum 3940 examples only had a solid case back with no exhibition case back. The watch comes as a full set with its Certificate of Origin, original paperwork inside the leather Patek Philippe wallet, and original winding box. It comes with three Patek Philippe straps: a light grey 18mmx14mm strap with a platinum deployant clasp, dark grey 18mmx16mm strap with 16mm Patek Philippe stainless steel pin buckle (presently on the watch), and the original black strap. This watch comes out of a Swiss collection from the second owner who has worn it only a few times the last decade and had it serviced by Patek Philippe in Geneva in 2017, although he did not have the paperwork. Thankfully, the watch was not polished during that service The watch is running well and keeping great time. This is a crisp and gorgeous example where photos do not do it justice. This is one of the nicest 3940 examples we have handled and the next owner will certainly be thrilled to own one of the most elegant complicated watches ever produced.
