Description
Revisiting one of the most distinctive sports watches of the 1970s, the Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 “Jumbo” brings the character of the original model into a contemporary 37mm execution. Crafted in 18K 3N yellow gold, the monobloc tonneau-shaped case is defined by its prominent fluted bezel, integrated gold bracelet, and clean, architectural lines. A solid gold Maltese cross at 5 o’clock serves as a subtle signature of the Maison, while the champagne-toned matte dial features straight hour markers and baton-style hands filled with Super-LumiNova®. Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback, offering a view of the in-house Caliber 2455/2 automatic movement. Specially adapted for this reissue, the movement features a redesigned yellow gold oscillating weight incorporating 18K and 22K gold, with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and an approximately 40-hour power reserve. Completing the design, the integrated 18K yellow gold bracelet secures with a triple-folding clasp, while a water resistance rating of 50 meters adds everyday practicality. Presented in excellent pre-owned condition, this example exhibits minimal signs of wear, with only very light superficial scratches visible across the bracelet and clasp. Offered as a full set, it is accompanied by its original Vacheron Constantin inner and outer boxes, leather travel watch roll, leather document wallet, both retail hangtags, and Vacheron Constantin warranty card dated January 2025. Combining the unmistakable design of the original 222 with the refinement of modern manufacture, this yellow gold example offers a distinctive take on one of Vacheron Constantin’s most celebrated sports watches.
