About the Family

The Speedmaster was introduced in 1957 as a racing chronograph and became the most famous watch in history when it was selected by NASA for the Apollo programme after surviving a brutal battery of tests that no other chronograph could pass. Buzz Aldrin wore a Speedmaster on the surface of the moon during Apollo 11 in July 1969 — a fact that has defined the watch's identity ever since. The Moonwatch designation specifically refers to the hand-wound, hesalite-crystal configuration that most closely follows the specification of the watches that flew to the moon. The current production Moonwatch maintains the essential character — same case shape, same tachymeter bezel, same three-register dial — while incorporating a modern co-axial movement.

About this reference

The Omega Speedmaster Professional 'From Moon to Mars' was introduced in 2004. Based on the 3570, it features a stainless steel Professional case with closed caseback and hesalite crystal. Its dial is adorned with images of the mars, earth and the moon on the three subdials, plus the text 'from the moon to mars'. The caseback features the same text.
