Description
Offered here is an excellent example of the iconic Rolex Submariner Date ref. 1680 in stainless steel, featuring the classic 40mm case and dating to approximately 1977 based on its 5.20 million serial number. This reference represents one of the most beloved vintage Submariners among collectors. The condition of this watch is lovely. The case appears to have been previously polished, yet it retains a beautifully full profile with thick, even lugs and crisp factory bevels still clearly visible. The Mk IV “feet first” tritium dial is especially attractive, with its matching tritium hands that have developed to a stunning buttery-yellow patina that collectors highly prize. The dial itself remains clean and free of notable damage, presenting beautifully against the classic black bezel. The watch is fitted to a Rolex 93150 Oyster Bracelet with correct 580 end links and a B date code, corresponding to 1977 production. The bracelet includes 11 links along with the dive extension in the clasp and shows only minor stretch consistent with careful wear over time. The watch retains its original bezel insert in great condition, and the correct “top hat” acrylic crystal is exceptionally clean, completing the unmistakable vintage character of this outstanding Submariner.
