About the Movement

2160/1 movement

Caliber 2160 is the first self-winding movement developed by Vacheron Constantin. In addition to the elegance of its openworked carriage shaped like a Maltese cross, the emblem of the Manufacture, Caliber 2160 is distinguished by its incredible slimness: this ultra-thin 188-part movement endowed with an approximately 80-hour power reserve measures just 5.65 mm thick. Its relatively sedate frequency (2.5 Hz), along with its 22K gold peripheral oscillating weight, provide a chance to admire the steady beating of its mechanism and the exceptional level of traditional finishing visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The bar of the tourbillon carriage is entirely hand-bevelled, a craftsmanship operation that takes almost 12 hours for this component alone.

About the Family

The FiftySix, introduced in 2018, is Vacheron Constantin's most accessible collection — designed to serve as an entry point to one of the oldest continuously operating watch manufactures in the world (founded 1755). The name references the reference 6073, a 1956 model whose case shape and lugs inspired the modern design. The collection's Maltese cross-shaped lugs, vintage-inspired sector dials, and moderate case sizes present Vacheron Constantin's design language at a scale and price point that reaches a broader audience without diluting the finishing standards that define every watch leaving the Geneva manufacture.

About this reference

The Vacheron Constantin FiftySix collection was introduced at SIHH 2018. As suggested by its name the collection is inspired by a model introduced in 1956. This watch, reference 6073, paired a classic dial with a bold and modern case. Arguably the most striking element was the design of its lugs, which was inspired by the Maltese cross logo of the brand. The angular lugs of the retro-contemporary 2018 FiftySix are a clear nod to its source of inspiration, and the box-shaped sapphire crystal adds to the retro appeal. The FiftySix Tourbillon 6000E/000R-B488 was added to the collection in 2019.
